Fire Extinguisher inspections are crucial when it comes to safety in the work place, considering that they are the first line of defense in case of a fire. Fire Extinguishers are required in all commercial buildings with the means of controlling an unexpected fire in the early stages to avoid further damage, injury, or death. Aside from having Fire Extinguishers located throughout the work place, it is also required that they be inspected annually be a licensed professional to ensure it's proper operation capability.
So what takes place during a Fire Extinguisher Annual Inspection?
1. A licensed technician will make sure that the Fire Extinguisher is in it's designated place, visible, and unobstructed.
2. The technician will observe and inspect the cylinder's condition to make sure that it is free of dents, abrasions, or any physical damage that will affect the integrity of the cylinder.
3. He or she will then confirm that the Fire Extinguisher's gauge is in the green meaning it is in operating range, lift and tilt to ensure that it is full.
4. The Technician will also remove and inspect discharge hose to make sure that it is free of any cuts, damage, and free from obstructions.
5. The technician will make sure that pin is in place to ensure any unwanted discharge of Fire Extinguisher and replace tamper seal stamped with current year.
6. If everything checks out then the technician would then attach a service tag that is good for one year of inspection date.
What type of Maintenance does a Fire Extinguisher require?
